This might be the most spontaneous group hike ever hosted on Boston’s Walking City Trails (so far) but something remarkable is happening in Boston right now, with so many visitors and residents crossing paths for the World Cup and sharing so much joy together. SO…come on out and get ready for Friday’s game with an urban hike across “The Wilderness” of Franklin Park to a trifecta of brewpubs in Jamaica Plain! There’s no need to RSVP to this city ramble. Just show up, ready to walk 2.5 miles, and it’s a date!
Here are details:
WHEN IS THE HIKE HAPPENING? Thursday June 18 at 5:00 PM Eastern Standard Time
WHERE IS EVERYONE MEETNG? Forest Hills Station on the MBTA Orange Line. The hike host, Walking City Trails founder Miles Howard, will be at the fare gates with a Walking City Trails sign. Depending on the group size, hikers might be directed just outside the station to a holding area before the journey begins.
HOW LONG IS THE HIKE? 2.5 miles from Forest Hills Station to the brewpub zone, from which each pub is anywhere between 2 minutes and 7 minutes away by foot. (There will be an orientation upon arrival.)
WHAT KIND OF TERRAIN WILL WE BE HIKING? Paved and dirt paths, and some stone stairs in places. The hike will involve intermittent climbing and descending, but most of the surfaces will be level-ish.
WHAT BREWPUBS ARE WE HIKING TO? The hike will take us to a corner of Jamaica Plain with three great brewpubs within 2 to 7 minutes walking distance of each other: Drawdown Brewing, The Haven, and Samuel Adams Brewery. You can hit any of the brewpubs you want, in any order. The hike will conclude at the crossroads of the brewpubs, right by the intersection of Wasington Street and Boylston Street.
Finally, the three brewpubs are located close to Stony Brook Station, which is also on the MBTA Orange Line. For a closer look at the hiking route and nearby transit resources, check out the Google Map below.
